Just as a remote Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS)
user can print to a shared network printer in the office, that same Small
Business Server user can advantage of fax server software for remote
use... to use one of the shared Fax "printers" on the Small
Business Server system in the office, from a remote, distant location.
This in many cases means this Small Business Server user
may be dialing into one modem, configured for inbound Remote Access
Service (RAS) calls, while their fax is going out on another modem,
configured for outbound Fax calls, courtesy of the fax server software
remote use.

It's also worth noting that if you're concerned about
unauthorized usage of Small Business Server resources, both Remote Access
Service and fax server software permissions can be granted and revoked on
a user-by-user basis through the User Access Wizard.
Regardless of whether the Fax Client is being used while
in office on the LAN or through RAS/DUN connection (i.e. fax server
software remote use), a Fax printer on a Small Business Server network
looks like just another printer. This means a Fax printer is listed in the
Printers folder in the end user's Control Panel and is accessible through
any Windows application's File, Print command.
