The remote control solution for remote network management
solved some of the large image file problems with the Small Business Server
Console. However, because the remote control packages were not designed
and tested under Small Business Server 4.0, the products many times
created more remote network management problems than they solved.
The alternative was a low-performance DUN connection.
Neither way was ideal. Computer resellers and systems integrators needed a
better way to remotely administer their clients' Small Business Server

With Small Business Server 4.5, Microsoft implemented
NetMeeting 2.11 for remote administration and remote network management.
NetMeeting solves many of the performance problems and integration issues
that computer resellers and systems integrators had to previously grapple
with when trying to run Small Business Server Console wizards
remotely.
In particular, it provides an acceptable performance level
for remote network management. Small Business Server 4.5 provides an
integrated remote control solution for remotely administering the Small Business Server
Console... a primitive, yet effective tool for remote network management.
